Wardrobe Wednesday: A High Waist and A Low Boot

I hope all of you on the East Coast are staying safe during Sandy and her aftermath. Up here in Syracuse we had a lot of talk but not much action - classes were cancelled yesterday and Monday, but we didn't get hit too bad - nothing more than a usual rainstorm!

NECKLACE: Forever 21 (old)
BOOTIES: Forever 21 (Similar)

Obviously, these sunny photos were not taken in the height of the storm. I picked up this sheer cream and nude colored tank blouse in NYC just before I left back in August on a Sunday stroll through Soho. I highly recommend visiting the store, Mystique, if you have a chance - it's on Broadway in between Prince and Spring streets. There's definitely some tacky stuff there, but if you look through you'll find some really cute tops and other garments.

The pants I found at Urban and fell in love with - anything high waisted is a must have in my book. Paired with a pair of old brown booties, I really stuck to the the tans, whites, and browns in this outfit.

Everyday is Saturday

Kate Spade lovers everywhere, rejoice! The brand has comfirmed to WWD that they will be releasing a lower priced line, Saturday, next fall 2013. The line will be more casual, but still filled with everything you love about Kate Spade: shirts, denim, dresses and jackets in all your favorite hues, accessories galore, including handbags, eyewear, tech accessories, jewelry, watches, and more. There's even going to be beauty and home decor included in the line, which is designed for a younger audience and embodies the wonderful feeling of Saturday, everyday.

Check out the slideshow over at WWD for complete looks from the line. It will be launching online first, at Saturday.com, and the line's first flagship will be in Tokyo. Prices will be at about 50% of what you would typically see from Kate Spade. I can't wait to shop Saturday and get Kate Spade-esque looks for less! Will you be shopping Saturday next fall?

Beautiful Bows

Bows are one of my favorite trends for fall. Best part about them? They're trendy now, but they're a true classic. A bow adorned on dress or clutch is adds a feminine touch to a garment, and makes something simple eye catching and adorable. J.Crew and Kate Spade have some great picks for bows on their sites right now, especially in the gorgeous and elegant hues of black, white and gold - check out my favorite pieces below!

Wardrobe Wednesday: Roses are Red

A bit of a delayed Wardrobe Wednesday this week - I took theses photos at the end of August back at home in Chicago. Nothing like a rainy and dreary fall day to make you long for the warm days of summer. Especially a bold skirt like this one - I love the rose print and the big bow!

skirt: forever 21 (old) similar here // shoes: michael kors (old) (similar) // tank: artizia (similar)
jewelry: j.crew bracelet (old), bendels braclet (similar), gifted bracelet

I picked up this skirt from a friend at a "Naked Ladies Party". A few friends and I all cleaned out our closets and brought them over to my basement and did a clothes swap. I'd being eyeing this skirt of my friends for quite sometime, so I was psyched when she was offering it up at the party!

Blair Eadie's Fab Collab

As you've seen from my style crush post, one of my favorite bloggers is Blair Eadie, the woman behind Atlantic-Pacific. Recently, she collaborated with BaubleBar, everyone's favorite online jewelry retailer, on a collection of pieces to be sold on the site for a limited time.

The pieces are a mix of original and color twists on pieces that we've seen in BaubleBar's collection for some time now, and I'm lusting after all of them. This bubble gum pink beaded bib is the perfect statement necklace in a pastel hue, and the pearl bubble necklace brings a timeless look to a trendy piece.

For your fingers, the golden arrow ring is subtle but eye-catching  and I'm loving the bold colors on the chevron ring stack - of course, anything and everything chevron is a must in my book!

The Royal Wedding Bells

We all know that I'm a sucker for anything royal. Even more so, I'm a sucker for anything royal wedding. So when I saw heard of a wedding of a Luxembourg prince to a countess happening this past weekend, I immediately scoured the web for photo's of the bride's wedding dress.

Elie Saab was the winner for this wedding's dress designer, and the bride wore a gorgeous dress that almost had a Kate Middleton feel to it with the long train (although the length of the veil's train is rather ridiculous - check it out here), layers of lace and longer sleeves. I personally love the dress - it is tasteful, intricate, elegant and timeless. Pure perfection!

You can repel men too!

If you read fashion blogs, chances are you've heard of Leandra Medine, better known as her internet alias: The Man Repeller, one of the most popular fashion blogs in the blogosphere. Infamous for her quirky sense of style and quick wit, Medine has collaborated with designers before on pieces, but this is her first time releasing a collection. This time, she's paired with PJK for a line titled Leandra Medine x PJK...Just Sayin'

Check out The Man Repeller's line for "Leather jackets you can wear out at night; quirky graphic Ts, and feminine, girly dresses that go under a big army vest,” Chelsey Santry, creative director of PJK told StyleCaster last week. Prices are steep - items start at $198, so start saving now if you're dying to dress like the Man Repeller!

A Quick Breather

Please excuse my absence for the next few days while I take some time to do what matters - focus on finishing my crazy midterm week, hit out a few new articles, and most importantly: relax! I'll see you all in a few days!

Outfit of the Day: Fall Foilage

Fall temperatures are here in Upstate NY, and so is my pile of midterm schoolwork (was in the library until 11:30 tonight - it shouldn't even be allowed to open that late). However, my exams and papers end Wednesday, so I'll have smooth sailing for the rest of the week! I'm dreaming of warm fall colors and a heavy duty backpack (totes are way too hard on your shoulder). I also picked up these loafers on Friday (so much for my spending freeze - but they were a good deal!) at DSW and I'm totally in love. Ironic, because when my mom bought my loafers when I was a kid I absolutely loathed them. Now, I think they're chic in sort of a manly way. What's your opinion?

Invested

We're at a rare point in the year - vest season. It's one of my favorites - you can style up your outfits with fun outerwear while still showing off your ensemble underneath. It's only going to last for a bit before heavier coats become necessary, so sport your favorite vest while you have the chance! Below are a few of my picks for vests this fall. Especially I'm lusting after #1 - the black piping is my favorite!

One World

Forgive my lack of Wardrobe Wednesday this week - no time to put up a post after tonight's festivities  The One World Concert here at Syracuse University. Tonight, I saw the Dalai Lama speak, followed by performances from Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Natasha Bedingfield, Nelly Furtado, David Crosby, Phillip Phillips, among others. Not to mention, Whoopi Goldberg was the MC! It was a truly incredible experience, but as expected - I'm wiped. Regular posting to resume Thursday!

Tuesday Round-Up

A couple of fashion news tidbits this week so far:

Savannah Miller, Sienna Miller's sister, debuted her new clothing line 'Savannah' to British Vogue yesterday. (Vogue UK)

Tatler Magazine, a British publication that has featured the Middleton sisters on its cover multiple times, has proclaimed Prince "Dirty Harry" their "Man of the Year". Good picture, too! (The Cut

Child of Hollywood royalty, Willow Smith has started a fashion Tumblr. Check it out here.

During a summer absence from her West Village home, Julianne Moore was robbed of over $125,000 worth of Cartier jewelry. Talk about a loss! (The Cut)

Lady Gaga was met by over 3,000 fans at Harrods in London (Fashion Foie Gras)

What I'm Wishing For

In case you missed yesterday's news, I'm going to London next semester! Since the dollar to pound exchange rate isn't looking so great, I'm planning on putting myself on a serious spending freeze for the rest of the semester. No matter how much I may want to, I cannot indulge in every little thing I see if I want to be able to enjoy London and travel throughout Europe. Here's my post-abroad (or never, considering the state my bank account will likely be in) wish list. Or perhaps my early Christmas wish list (parents, take note)!

Pave Link Bracelet: Again, these bracelets have been on the arm of every blogger in sight recently. Their trend factor and common post appearances has only made me want it more! Ann Taylor has the least expensive one I've seen yet.

Peter Pan Collar Tee: A shirt I've wanted almost immediately since its arrival in stores. The Peter Pan collar is such a trend right now, but this shirt is clearly a timeless piece for winter.

Patent Leather BootiesBooties are another huge trend for fall, and I love the patent leather look - makes them perfect for dressing up a daytime outfit and making a transition to nighttime.

iPad: I've never truly seen the need before now, but after IFBCon I've been craving one. Friends say it's a necessity for going abroad - perfect for carting around on the tube or taking on flights and train rides to nearby European cities.

Navy Blazer: I borrowed a friend's for IFBCon last month, and I fell in love. Such a classic piece that instantly adds an element of sophistication and professionalism to any ensemble. I'd keep it neutral in a color like navy. Ralph Lauren and J.Crew both have ones I'm lusting after.

Monogram Necklace - My style icon, Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific, turned me on to these necklaces and I've wanted one ever since. However, with that price tag, they're going to have to wait a few more months.

The O.M.G. Bag: This bag from Lo & Sons caught my eye on many a blog and many a blogger's arm at IFBCon last month. It would be perfect for heading to and from class, and across Europe. Not to mention the lifetime value - more lasting than a simple tote, I could use this bag for future internships, back at Syracuse, and around home in Chicago.

London Bound!

I have some exciting news: I've officially been accepted to study abroad in London, England next semester! As many of you know, I'm a complete anglophile (just check out my Pinterest) with a diehard royal family obsession. I am so excited to spend four months living in the city and country of my dreams, being immersed into English culture and best of all, traveling throughout Europe!

Updates to the blog will obviously continue throughout my semester in Europe, and I can't wait to share my abroad experiences with you all - and even better - London fashion! And hopefully a Kate Middleton sighting in Topshop? Dreaming big over here...

Fresh Finds: Riding Boots

During the fall season, my go-to footwear is almost always riding boots. They're cute, comfortable, versatile, and even better, have that perfect fall feeling to them. I have a pair in both brown and black, but I've been itching for a two-toned pair for the season to get both the looks at once. I've lusted after a pair of Frye riding boots for years - they just know how to do leather boots, with thick leather and beautiful craftsmanship. This pair below is on the top of my wish list.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Bubbles and Rosettes

You ever have those moments in a store when you're waiting in the check out line, purchases in hand, thinking you're done for the day, when all of sudden something catches your eye from across the store, or on a nearby rack, and you just have to have it. That's what happened with this shirt. I was waiting in line at Forever 21, purchase to be in hand, when the rosette pattern caught my eye. At less than $20, it was a steal - and I picked it up then and there. The pattern is so subtle, but the details are beautiful when you look up close.

The necklace I had been lusting after for quite sometime (after seeing every blogger I follow flaunt it in one of their outfit posts), and thanks to a birthday present from a friend I finally had one of my own! I knew I wanted to pair it with the turquoise skirt that was a go-to this summer during my internship, the colors were so similar. The pop of pink on top broke up the color a bit as well - I love the way the pink and aqua compliment each other.

Runway Recap

I'm a bit ashamed of my lack of fashion week recaps here on the blog. Not that I haven't been following myself, but Style.com and the Cut have such amazing coverage of the shows it seems silly to try and replicate it. But things have been busy - Hedi Slimane, the new creative director for Yves Saint Laurent, or now better known as Saint Laurent Paris, showed his first collection for the brand yesterday, as well as Chloe, Stella McCartney and more. Over the weekend. Hermes, Vivienne Westwood, Viktor & Rolf, among others showed their own collections. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the past few days:

Vivienne Westwood (not crazy about the weird bonnet, however)

Pinterest of the Week

My most pinned board is without a doubt my fashion & style board, with over 1000 pins. However, despite the fact that many fashion lovers may look to Pinterest for fashion inspiration, don't be fooled that there isn't plenty of other inspiration waiting. Lauren Santo Domingo, contributing editor at Vogue, is this week's prime example. While Santo Domingo may work for the world's fashion bible, my favorite part of her Pinterest is all of her home decor and design boards.

From Country Houses and Gardens to Sitting Rooms and Libraries, she covers any room (or exterior) you could think of.  And of course, there's all your favorite fashion boards, such as Vintage and Street Style. To top it off, there's her Inspiration board, which is an all encompassing collection of beautiful photographs. Don't forget to check out the Moda Operandi, of which Santo Domingo is a co-founder, inspiration board as well!
