Coachella Street Style

Coachella may be over, but that doesn't mean that the street style photographs aren't still pouring in. I love festival fashion - everyone's style gets significantly more indie and hipster and for those of us that usually go the preppy route (myself included), we get a chance to experiment with a different style. The Topshop Tumblr, along with the New York Times, and Harper's Bazaar have some of my favorite street style shots from the festival. Additionally, it's perfect style inspiration for Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo this summer!

Fresh Finds: Green Romper

I've decided to start a new series on a weekly discovery I make in the world of online shopping. As weird as it is, I'm really more of an online window shopper than anything - unless it's from a brand I trust with sizing, I'm always too worried that the item won't fit when it comes in the mail (and I'm way too scatter brained to ever get myself together enough to send it back, so it will just sit in the back of my closet, unused).

I've been online browsing a lot lately, looking for work appropriate attire for my internship this summer. However, most of the time I find non-internship ready clothes that I like even more. Today, I was browsing Frock Candy and saw this gorgeous deep sea green romper. Rompers are the best - they give the illusion of wearing a dress but you don't have to worry about any Marilyn Monroe moments when the wind blows up. The ruffles on the front make it a touch more formal and give a it a vintage feel. Pick it up at Frock Candy for $44.50!

Sad Day for J.Crew

A while back, around the time of New York Fashion Week in the Fall, I posted about the upcoming collaboration between J.Crew and Manolo Blahnik. Today, while doing my weekend catch up on Refinery29, I read that the collection will never see the light of day (outside of the J.Crew NYFW show). Although at the time of the collection's original debut, Manolo Blahnik himself claimed he had no knowledge of it, there still seemed to be nothing getting in the way of the collection's arrival in J.Crew stores (it was supposed to make an appearance in about a dozen stores across the country, if I remember correctly). Jenna Lyons said that the collaboration's fizzle was due to wholesale restraints on the part of Manolo Blahnik. Both companies released statements saying that there was no ill will between the two brands, but that they hope to collaborate in the future. For all our sakes, let's hope that this is true.

And they would have been so pretty, too

Pinterest of the Week

This week's Pinterest of the Week comes to us from the wonderful world of Refinery29. The inspiration for this post series came from R29, and they provide me with some of my favorite pinners to follow. Recently, they did a post all about some of the most fabulous pinners who work behind the scenes at R29. One of my favorites is Dree Harper, a contributing writer. Harper has nearly 50 pin boards dedicated to everything fashioable, editorial, and any color combo, pattern, or type of person you could imagine. Some of my favorite boards include "{There's Always Art}", her art pin board, "{Creative Living Outside}", for all the gorgeous exteriors, "{Colorful Life}", featuring the brightest and boldest colors, and "{Vintage Archives}", to satisfy your historical lust.

Paris in English

I'm a bit delayed on relaying this news, but on April 6th, Vogue Paris announced via Twitter that they will now be publishing in English. Although this vague tweet caused a lot of hoopla and speculation, the truth is is that only the website will be published in English. No original English content will be produced yet either, but hey, from what I've muddle through in Vogue Paris, they have some pretty great content on their own. I love the European Vogues (no offense Anna Wintour) - they're usually more high fashion and edgy - and they always have models on the cover. I can't wait for Vogue Paris to be more accessible to a mass American audience!

The MacBook Scent

There's nothing like that new car smell, right? The scent of buttery leather combined with a freshness that you just can't put your finger on. Well, turns out, some people not only love the smell of new cars, but new computers, as well. Air Aroma, a fragrance company, along with a group of artists that go by the name "Greatest Hits" worked together to capture the smell of a freshly opened, right out of the box, MacBook Pro. The company wanted to capture all aspects of the scent, including: "the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box, and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China," according to an article on The Verge. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. I'm not sure if I would wear, but it might be a nice scent to spray around your dorm room.

Pinterest of the Week

This week's Pinterest of the week comes to us from one of my favorite magazines, Lucky. If you read the magazine, you know it's main purpose is to be used as a shopping guide. So think of Lucky's Pinterest as an online shopping guide - and more. My personal favorite board is the "Bloggers We Love" board, featuring outfit photos from some of the best bloggers across the internet. (I love when magazines feature bloggers. It's like a fusion of my two favorite fields). Other notable boards are "#ShowUsYourTips", a board dedicated to nail color and nail art, "Bag Lust", all about handbags, and "Editor's Inspiration", which is just a great collection of beautiful images. Some of my favorite pins are below:

Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly

I love film adaptations of anything historical - what could be better than taking the events we read about in textbooks and putting your favorite Hollywood stars into the scenarios? And film adaptations of the lives of Royals are even better (the Lifetime and Hallmark adaptations of the Will & Kate story are outliers in this situation). The latest to take on the challenge is Nicole Kidman, who has recently been confirmed to play Grace Kelly. The film is led by director Oliver Dahan (of La Vie En Rose), and is currently titled Grace of Monaco. The film features Kelly in 1962, following a six-month period during her reign.

Nicole Kidman certainly has the acting chops for the role, and she has the beautiful blonde look down pat, despite a few differences in appearance. However, I can't help but think of Mad Men's January Jones whenever someone makes a connection between a modern actress and Princess Grace - not after all the comparisons made between the two in the first season of the show.

I've been seeing lots of trailers for HBO's new show, "Girls". The show revolves around four girls, recent college graduates living and working in New York City. Sounds like a younger version of Sex and the City that has a better grasp on the real world (no more buying countless pairs of $500 shoes on a columnist's salary). Check out the trailer below - the show premieres Sunday!

Life According to Instagram

I'm away from school this weekend, visiting Mystic, CT with a friend. The water is so beautiful here, and it's such a quaint little town, filled with great restaurants and adorable boutiques. Here are some snaps from my visit.

iPhone Candy

Despite having had an iPhone for almost three years, I've only had around 3 or 4 cases for my phone. I buy one, get settled with it, and kind of just forget about switching it. However, I've been seeing website, Society6, popping up all over the blogosphere recently, with everyone raving about how much they love their iPhone cases. Taking a look myself, I have to agree. Defiitely tempted to invest in a new one now. And, whatever pattern you choose, you can also get as a laptop skin, stationary cards, or an art print! And the patterns are so gorgeous. Here are a few favorites:

Pinterest of the Week

Like everyone else on the internet, I've become incredibly addicted to Pinterest. It's the perfect way to pass the time in class, gather your favorite images on the internet into one place, and keep yourself constantly inspired. Today, I've decided to take a cue from one of my favorite blogs, Refinery29, show you some of my favorite Pinterest accounts to follow on a weekly basis.

This week's pinning favorite comes from the magazine Condé Nast Traveler's page. If you've ever been struck with wanderlust, be sure to check this page out. Their boards consist of gorgeous photos of the world's most beautiful sights (both natural and manmade), luxurious hotels, relaxing beaches and eye-catching cities. Some of my favorite boards include Italy, Room With a View, Romance, and Paris. Check out some of my favorite pins below, and go to their page to get your daily dose of travel beauty.

(Another) Great Vanity Fair Cover

Vanity Fair has already had one captivating group cover this year, with their Hollywood issue back in February. This month, they've done it again with a cover remiscent of a typical Hollywood issue - however, it's for TV. I automatically was in love because of the cover ladies (representatives from The Good Wife AND Downton Abbey? Check.) And then inside, even more stars - Shameless' Emmy Rossum, Revenge's Emily Van Camp, and even more Good Wife (Archie Panjabi). The cover and spread was photographed by Norman Jean Roy. I cannot wait to get this issue in the mail!

Though my love for Mad Men may not be as deep as my love for Downton Abbey (could anything?), I've still been a big fan of the show for a few years now. Like most Mad Men fans, I have mixed feelings towards Don Draper's ex-wife, Betty. We can all admit she's a bit of a psychopath, but she's got a few reasons to justify her craziness (her forever philandering husband, for starters). However, I got one of the biggest shocks of my Mad Men watching life when FAT BETTY graced the screen last night. Poor Betty, her looks have always been the consistent thing she had going for her. When she first came on-screen, I thought she was pregnant! Also, can I just say how ridiculous January Jones looks in a fat suit? Some people are just meant to be thin and beautiful.

UPDATE: Fat Betty can also be found on Twitter
