One of my favorite surprises in life is finding new things in unexpected places. I love this almost no where more than when I'm shopping. Walking into a store and expecting the clothes to be dowdy and matronly, only to find that perfect sweater you've been searching for. Or expecting your favorite pair of jeans to be out of stock only to find that a new shipment has just arrived. I had one of these surprises about a year ago and was reminded when I visited the store again over my Thanksgiving break about one of my favorite places to buy accessories - World Market.
World Market was always one of those places that I would drive or walk past, think it looked cool, but never really had a reason to venture inside. Of course, as a teenager whose personal space equalled a 12x12 bedroom, I didn't have a reason to explore this home and furniture store. Last Christmas, when shopping for a present for my mother, I took the plunge and went inside. Not only did I find my mother's gift, but I explored everything else the store has to offer: it's accessory collection.
A furniture and home store was probably one of the last places I would expect to find a treasure trove of accessories, but they're there. World Market has multiple racks and stands showcasing gorgeous accessories. Many of them have a Bohemian feel, some remind me of the vibrant colors and elaborate designs that I'd expect to see visiting India. The collection of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, et cetera is absolutely gorgeous. The best part? They won't break the bank - almost everything is under $20. It's the perfect place to find long necklaces, thick bangles, and dangling earrings. I picked up a beaded necklace and a cool calendar (Conde Nast magazine illustrations!) yesterday, but was tempted to buy much more.
